BIOGRAPHY

Grace David is a creative photojournalist who works to capture every moment in truth and vibrant color through photography, writing, and design. She believes that every moment, both unique and ordinary, is a story worth telling.

Grace has shared many stories through her photography in the past decade and plans to explore what stories the world has to tell for many years to come, camera in hand. Over the years, she has developed expertise in portraiture, sports photography, landscape and travel photography, and event photography. Grace hopes to take this expertise, paired with her skills in news and feature writing, and report on the history that she encounters.

While at Grove City College, where she will graduate in May of 2024, Grace spent most of her time outside of class behind the lens, capturing campus life and sporting events for the college’s marketing-communications department and student newspaper, the Collegian. Her editorial role as Photo Chief for the Collegian allowed her to organize other students to bring in additional photography, design her weekly photo spread, and provide art for the entire newspaper.

In the Summer of 2023, Grace accepted an opportunity she received through her position on the Collegian to be a photojournalist intern reporter for The Center Square. Here, she reported on local, state, and federal government news and captured staple photography that the newswire company still uses. In June of that year, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette republished her article on the modernization of a Pennsylvania public assistance program. While an intern photojournalist, she also followed the EMT crisis in Pennsylvania and published a photo-based report on the story.

Recently, she was awarded first place in feature photography for the Keystone Student Media awards for her photo “Doing the Lord's work, the Lord's way." This photo, published on the front page of the Collegian in 2023, depicts a Grove City College student being baptized in the waters of a Tucson, Arizona reservoir on an Inter-Community Outreach mission trip.

On March 19, the Wall Street Journal published Grace's portrait of Resense co-founder, Luke Gilligan, in the article "U.S. No Longer Ranks Among World's 20 Happiest Countries" by Clare Ansberry.

As Grace finishes her Communication Arts degree at GCC, she finds the most joy in capturing almost every varsity sport the school offers. Her portfolio is filled to the brim with shots of lacrosse, soccer, basketball, baseball, and others. But the Wolverines’ football team has seen the shutter of Grace’s camera more than any other sport. After following their first undefeated regular season and the three seasons previous, Grace hopes to continue her career in professional sports photography.

She is excited to share the inspiring stories of professional sports, both on and off the field post-graduation. Follow her journey into capturing this part of the world below!
